About DMK Burger Bar
Childhood friends, David Morton (of Morton’s Steakhouse family) and Chef Michael Kornick (5-time James Beard Award nominee) have shared a love of quality food and fine dining for as long as they can remember.
As adults they’ve remained immersed in the food world; Kornick taking over the kitchen and Morton making entrepreneurial strides, so it seemed natural for the two to form their partnership, known as DMK (David Morton + Michael Kornick) with the vision to build a collection of high-quality, value-driven neighborhood restaurants that celebrate community and the culinary arts.
With the idea for a Burger Bar concept, the pair went on a yearlong expedition across America to find the best burgers and they quickly noticed a shortage of affordable, quality, and responsibly sourced options. So, they infused the burger with culinary passion, created a masterful dining experience, and opened their first DMK Burger Bar.
Within the first year they had exceeded financial expectations and quickly opened three additional locations. Word of DMK’s gourmet grass-fed burgers, custom made potato buns, and Food Network host, Guy Fieri’s personal favorite, the parmesan truffle fries spread throughout Chicago.
At the request of many, DMK decided to bring the Burger Bar to new markets, so they brought on franchise expert, David Grossman who has coached dozens of Franchise Owners in opening more than 1,000 locations. With their combination of skills, this trio is on a mission to redefine casual dining and share Chicago’s best burgers, fries, and shakes with the nation, at an unparalleled value!
